What’s the Difference?
- Design
- Media
- Cellular Connectivity
- Fitness Tracking
- Battery Life
No doubt both the Versa 2 and the Active 2 have got very attractive appearance that’s sleek and stylish. Although, the Versa 2 has a slight bigger display size than the two versions of the Active 2 which of course allows you see more at a glance, the Versa 2 is also more compact than the 44mm Active 2.
However, Active 2 is quite slimmer than the Versa 2 which makes it sleeker and leaves it with a more charming appearance.
Both the Versa 2 and the Active 2 have onboard storage capacity that lets you take your music with you, and while there’s Amazon Alexa for the Versa 2, the Active 2 features Samsung’s Bixby. Both are very remarkable voice assistant platforms.
The stainless steel version of the Active 2 has LTE support which the Versa 2 lacks. As a result while you can make and receive calls with the Active 2, you can’t do that with the Versa 2. Although, the Versa 2 allows you to send quick replies but this feature is only available with Android devices only.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 being a standalone smartwatch is a more comprehensive smartwatch than the Versa 2.
Both the Versa 2 and the Active 2 are fitness focused smartwatches and comprehensive fitness trackers that can help you achieve more fitness goals.
However, each of these two has fitness tracking features that are quite different from the other. While the Active has 39 preloaded sport modes, the Versa 2 has only 15. Moreover, Active 2 comes with ECG sensor and inbuilt GPS that Versa 2 lacks. Thus, Active 2 with ECG can help you detect irregular heart rhythms which can be a sign of a more serious heart problem (although not yet approved by the FDA).
And with inbuilt GPS the Active 2 is a more convenient device that lets you track outdoor activities effortlessly including seeing your pace in real-time unlike Versa 2 which must connect to your phone’s GPS to have these features.
Although the Versa 2 comes with pulse Ox that can help you see how well your body utilizes oxygen, this feature comes in handy for climbers and for more insightful sleep tracking. The Versa 2 also has an altimeter that compliments the pulse ox to make this device a great choice for climbers than the Active 2.
Both the Versa 2 and Galaxy watch active 2 is expected to last over a day on regular usage which is quite great when compared to the average smartwatch. However, the Versa 2 has a slight longer battery than the Active 2. The Versa 2 is expected to last up to 5 days compared to the Active 2 with about 2-4 days battery life.
Which is Better?
These two are no doubt fantastic choices especially for fitness minded folks looking for a high-end comprehensive fitness tracker that can help improve your fitness level significantly.
However, the Active 2 is a more comprehensive smartwatch that’s more equipped than the Versa 2. On the other hand, the Versa 2 with longer battery life is a better choice for individuals involved in extreme workout activities. Moreover, the Versa 2 is cheaper than both versions of the Active 2 which sort of makes it a better deal.
Our Pick
I choose the Galaxy watch active 2, it has more features and a more attractive design while also being a more comprehensive smartwatch.
