What’s the Difference?
- Design
- All three smartwatches look decent, stylish and elegant, but the newer Moto 360 3rd Gen is a more durable and finer smartwatch. Its more compact, thus making a more befitting wear for those with smaller wrist. Its DLC/PVD coated case makes it a more durable smartwatch with a sophisticated design that defines a true premium smartwatch.
Moreover, the newer 3rd Gen with AMOLED powering its display offers a more interactive and lively display compared to the IPS LCD display of the other two. It also features an additional physical button which certainly will make it easier to navigate compared to its predecessors with single physical buttons.
- Waterproof Rating
The Moto 360 3rd Gen. rated 3ATM (waterproof up to 30 meters) is swim-proof, unlike its predecessors rated IP67 (waterproof up to 1meter). This makes it an ideal choice to wear to the pool. While you can still wear any of the 1st or 2nd Gen. under the rain, it’s not recommended to wear to the pool.
- Connectivity
NFC is present on the Moto 360 3rd Gen which isn’t present on its predecessors. This enables Google Pay – a non-contactless payment system that allows you make payment directly from the Moto 360 3rd Gen., allowing you leave your wallet at home.
- Media
The Moto 360 3rd Gen with an upgrade in both ROM and RAM gets twice the storage capacity of the 1st or 2nd Gen. With 8GB ROM, you get to take more of your favorite tracks with you on the go. And with 1GB RAM, you get a faster and better performance boosted by the more advanced Snapdragon 3100 chip just as seen with the Ticwatch Pro 4G with 1GB RAM and powered by the lower-end Snapdragon 2100, yet improved performance significantly.
- Fitness Tracking
All three watches is fitness-focused as each of these is able to track your steps, distance, calories, heart rate with inbuilt GPS in all three enabling outdoor activity tracking.
However, the Moto 360 3rd Gen. with a more advanced chipset is a more comprehensive fitness tracker.
- Battery Life
The Moto 360 3rd Gen. is tested to last over a day on mixed usage compared to the 1st and 2nd Gen both of which last barely a day. Moreover, the more advanced Snapdragon 3100 chip brings battery saver modes to the 3rd Gen. which will see it stay up for about 3 days more.
Which is Better?
The Moto 360 3rd Gen. is clearly the best choice. It’s a more durable smartwatch, more storage capacity, better equipped with a more advanced 3100 chip and has the longest battery life.
My Pick
The Moto 360 3rd Gen. has it.
