What’s the Difference?
The main difference between the 42mm and 46mm is that the later comes with microphone and loudspeaker which enables Bluetooth calling and has a longer battery life than the 42mm edition.
- Design
- Media
- Fitness Tracking
- Battery Life
There’s slight difference in the appearance of these two, while the 46mm edition retains the classic appearance of its predecessor, the 42mm takes on a somewhat sporty appearance. However, both look very stylish and the finish is top-notch deserving of a true premium smartwatch.
The 42mm is more compact, is slimmer and also weighs less than the 46mm which makes it a more comfortable wear all day long. However, the 46mm with a bigger 1.39-inch display allows you to see a bit more at a glance, in addition, its more stylish and prestigious – thanks to the ceramics bezel.
While straps are available in three materials; fluoroelastomer, leather, and titanium, color varies. The 42mm is available in khaki Leather, cyan and black fluoroelastomer and rose gold Milanese straps, while the 46mm is available in titanium grey metal, orange and black fluoroelastomer and brown leather strap.
Although, these two feature 4GB onboard storage capacity, the 46mm comes with microphone and loudspeaker which the 42mm lacks. This enables you play media files aloud anywhere with the 46mm.
Moreover, the 46mm supports Bluetooth calling which isn’t possible with the 42mm edition. The phone must be connected to the 46mm to enable you to make and receive calls directly from this device.
The GT 2 series are more comprehensive activity trackers than their respective predecessors. These two are fitness-focused and even more equipped to track your active life comprehensively.
The Huawei TruSeen technology has been upgraded to enable more efficient and accurate tracking of your heart rate. As well as the presence of Huawei TruSleep technology that tracks your complete sleep cycle in deep, light and rem stages and TrueRelax pressure monitoring.
Also new is swimming heart rate tracking that tracks your heart rate while you swim which can help you manage your training intensity effortlessly. A great deal for Pro swimmers. In addition, both editions of the GT 2 feature recovery time, VO2 Max, training effect, training load and inbuilt GPS that enables outdoor activity tracking for routes, locations, and real-time pace.
Both the 42mm and 46mm editions of the Huawei watch GT 2 have got an impressive long battery life that keeps you going longer on a single charge. However, while the 46mm has been tested to last 14 days on regular usage, the 42mm will last a week which makes the former a better choice for anyone involved in extreme workout activities.
So Which is Better?
Both the 42mm and 46mm editions of the Huawei Watch GT 2 standout as fantastic smartwatches with remarkable designs, improved features, long battery life while also being more comprehensive activity trackers than their respective predecessors.
However, the 46mm edition is a more comprehensive smartwatch and has a more distinguishing and sophisticated design. It’ll cost you more, but give more value for money with a premium design, Bluetooth calling and a longer battery life.
Our Pick
The Huawei Watch GT 2 (46MM) being a more comprehensive smartwatch with a longer battery life is our preferred choice.
