  1. Design

  2. Nothing much has changed between the design of the F21 HR and that of other members on the Protrek lineup as they share same appearance except for slight differences in size and weight. The F21 weighs a bit less than the F30 and even lesser than the F20 which is quite heavy.

The F21 and F20 both have a bigger display than the F30 that let you see more at a glance, and feature a monochromic LCD and TFT colored LCD display that’s quite easier to read outdoors compared to the F30’s monochromic and OLED display that however offers a more interactive display that’s more vivid and lively to read.

The F30 having a smaller case size is more compact and befitting wear for those with smaller wrist sizes.

The F30 built with stainless steel case and bezel is a more durable device than the F20 and F21 resin case and bezel. However, the new F21 has urethane straps that are more comfortable to wear compared to the resin used for the F20 and F30. Moreover, the F30 and F21 both have interchangeable straps which the F20 lacks.

  3. Fitness Tracking

  4. The WSD-F21 is the first in the Protrek series to feature heart rate tracking which no doubt makes it a more comprehensive fitness tracker. Although each of these three is well equipped with altimeter, accelerometer, multi GPS system, gyroscope and magnetometer for the compass feature.

The F21 with heart rate sensor can track your heart rate in real-time which can help you manage your training intensity ensuring you don’t train beyond your limit.

  5. Battery Life

Nothing much has changed in the battery department with the release of the F21. We expect same battery life as the other two. All three devices feature the dual display mode which consists of the monochrome and colored display.

With the monochrome display activated, all Wear OS features are deactivated leaving only sensor tracking (except heart rate tracking) and time telling which will see any of these last just about a month.

However, the colored display sees all Wear OS features activated which will result in about a day battery life. Although we expect the F21 and F20 with TFT LCD will last a bit longer than the F30 with OLED.

Which is Better?

These three GPS watches are the best on the Protrek lineup and actually some of the best GPS smartwatches on the market among the likes of Garmin, Suunto, and Polar that lets you track outdoor activities effortlessly with loads of features inbuilt.

However, the WSD-F21 is a more comprehensive fitness tracker with the introduction of heart rate tracking which can help you manage your training intensity effortlessly. It also weighs a bit less than the other two and is a more comfortable wear.

On the other hand, the WSD-F30 has the most outstanding design, it’s more compact, slimmer, and features more premium and durable case material that makes it a better wear for individuals with smaller wrist.

Our Pick

The Protrek WSD-F21 HR with heart rate tracking is an outstanding GPS smartwatch with lots of features that makes it a more comprehensive watch. It’s our preferred choice.
