Amazfit GTR 47mm vs 42mm Features Compared
-
The main difference between the Amazfit GTR 47mm and 42mm model, is that the later is slimmer, weighs less, and has a shorter battery life compared to the bigger 47mm version.
- Design
- Battery Life
Mere looking at the two different sets of Amazfit GTR, you’ll find it a bit tricky identifying which is 47mm and 42mm, its same design for the two versions.
However, the 47mm version with 1.39-inch display size is bigger than the 1.2 inches, 47mm version, as a result, has a bigger case size, but a bit bulkier than the 42mm. i.e, while the 47mm measures 10.75mm in thickness, the 42mm is only 9.2mm in thickness.
On the other hand, while the 47mm is available in stainless steel, aluminum or titanium case, the 42mm is only available in a stainless steel case material. And, as a result, the 47mm has varying weights of 48g for the stainless steel, 40g for aluminum, and 36g for the titanium model, while the 42mm version weighs 25.5 grams.
As for the straps, the 47mm version comes with 22mm leather straps for the stainless steel and aluminum models, and fluoro-rubber straps for the titanium model, while the 42mm version comes with 20mm leather straps.
It safe to say, the bigger 47mm is a great fit for men, while the 42mm version will go nice for women.
In terms of colors, the 47mm version is available in black and gray, while the 42mm is available in Cherry, black, white and red.
In addition, there’s also a limited Iron man edition of the 47mm version with gold-colored stainless steel and red silicone straps which is currently available in China, while there’s also a limited 60 cubic zirconia crystal bezel coated model of the 42mm version with a gold-colored stainless steel case and a white leather strap.
It’s important to note that the two different versions of the Amazfit GTR have very long battery life that exceeds that of the Huwaei Watch GT which also has an impressive long battery life.
That’s just following in the footsteps of the Bip with about 45 days on battery life. However, the 47mm has a bigger battery capacity, twice that of the 42m version. As a result, the 47mm version has a longer battery life than the 42mm version.
The expected battery life as stated by the manufacturer is shown below,
Amazfit GTR (47MM) | Amazfit GTR (42MM) |
Standby:74 days Mixed usage: 24 days GPS continuous use: 40 hours | Standby:34 days Mixed usage: 12 days GPS continuous use: 12 hours |
Which is Better?
While these two are great choices that are perfect fits for the gym, and as well in the office, the bigger 47mm version is clearly a better choice. It has a longer battery life, and is available in different materials including the very durable and premium titanium material. The best choice for men and people with bigger wrists.
However, the smaller 42mm version is sleeker and lighter which makes it the best choice for women and people with smaller wrists, while also having a very impressive battery life that lets you go long on a single charge.
Our Pick
The Amazfit GTR (47MM) has an outstanding design, while also being a great choice for keeping a tab on your active life with a very long battery life that makes this device a great deal for hikers and anyone engaging in extreme workout activities. It’s indeed a fantastic smartwatch and is our preferred choice.
