No doubt, both the GT and GT 2 have got remarkable design, but the GT 2 has got a more outstanding design. It kind of drift away a bit from the classic appearance of the GT (42mm) to a sporty and geeky appearance. Its more compact and slightly slimmer which leaves it with a sleeker and classier appearance. It also weighs a bit less than the GT which makes it a more comfortable wear all day long.
The GT 2 42mm comes with 4GB onboard storage capacity which allow you take your favorite tracks with you on the go unlike the GT 42mm which lacks significant storage capacity.
Although, both the GT 2 and GT are fitness-focused and great choices for comprehensive fitness tracking with ability to track your recovery time, training effect, training load, in addition to inbuilt GPS that enables outdoor activity tracking for routes, distance and real-time pace. However, the GT 2 42mm is a more comprehensive activity tracker than its predecessor.
It comes with the Huawei TruSeen technology introduced to the GT, but it has now been upgraded to enable more efficient and accurate tracking of your heart rate. Battery life hasn’t change that much, as you should get 7 days long battery with any of these two. This is quite impressive, and that makes both watches great choices for tracking extreme workout activities.
Although, the new Huawei self-developed wearable Kirin A1 dual-chip design and intelligent power-saving technology will see the GT 2 last a bit longer than its predecessor, in addition to improved performance.

So Which is Better?
Both the GT and GT 2 have got remarkable designs, long battery life and are well equipped to track your active life. However, GT 2 with a more outstanding design and onboard music storage is a better choice and a more compressive smartwatch than the GT. Although more expensive, great value for money.
You’ll have to spend up to $250 to get the GT 2 (42mm) which is more than the about $160 for the GT (42mm elegant edition), but if you’re low on budget, then the GT is still a great choice.
