Beyond being very comfortable to wear, the Mi Band 7 is also a fantastic health tracker. It tracks virtually everything. It will track your heart rate, blood oxygen, stress and sleep. It will also track your steps and calories. Moreover, it features a whooping 120 sports modes and can map your routes when you carry your phone along. In this post, we’ll discuss tracking your heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep and stress with Mi Band 7.
Tracking Sleep with Mi Band 7
Like many other wearables, the Mi Band 7 will track your sleep in all four stages. It will track your sleep in awake, light, deep and REM stages. It will also track your breathing rate and will give you a breathing score.
To track your sleep and breathing rate with Mi Band 7, you need to enable a few settings. Open the Mi Fitness app, locate the sleep tile and select it. Tap on the three dots at the top right corner and select settings. Set your sleep goal and toggle on advanced monitoring and breathing score. Tap on the back arrow to save your settings. Now when you wear the Mi Band 7 to bed it will monitor your sleep.
To test the sleep tracking accuracy of the Mi Band 7, I wore it alongside the Fitbit Versa 3, Huawei Band 7 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. From my tests, the Mi Band 7 has shown to be quite consistent in tracking my sleep. Although, I noticed slight discrepancies in the time spent in the various stages of sleep.
When you wake up in the morning, you will be able to view your sleep details directly on the device. The Mi Band 7 will also track naps.
Tracking Blood Oxygen with Mi Band 7
The Mi Band 7 will also track your blood oxygen all day as long as you wearing it. You need to enable blood oxygen monitoring to track your blood oxygen with the Band.
To enable blood oxygen monitoring, open the Mi Fitness app, locate and tap on the Blood oxygen tile. Then tap on the three dots at the top right corner and select settings. Toggle on all-day tracking to continuously monitor your blood oxygen level with the Band. You can also enable blood oxygen alerts so that when your Spo2 drops below certain levels you will get a vibration. Once you’re done, tap on the back arrow to save your settings.
Once all-day tracking is enabled the Mi Band 7 will monitor your blood oxygen 24/7. I compared the Spo2 tracking accuracy against that of Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, and the Band was quite consistent in tracking my blood oxygen.
You can also check your Spo2 manually using the blood oxygen app on the device.
Tracking Stress with Mi Band 7
The Mi Band 7 will also monitor your stress level throughout the day. You need to enable stress monitoring from the Mi Fitness app. Open the app and tap on the stress tile. Tap on the three dots at the top corner and select settings. Toggle on all-day stress monitoring. Also toggle on relax reminder so that when the Band detects high stress, it will alert you to take a breathing exercise.
From the device, you can check your stress level manually. And when you feel stressed, you have the option to use the breathing app which will guide you through a breathing session.
Tracking Heart Rate With Mi Band 7
One of the primary functions of the Mi Band 7 is tracking your heart rate. It will track your heart rate all day and will also alert you when your heart rate drops too low or rises too high.
You need to enable heart rate monitoring, open the Mi Fitness app and select the heart rate tile. Tap on the three dots at the top right corner and select settings.
You can choose to automatically track your heart rate all day or track your heart rate intermittently. You can choose to track your heart rate every 1 min, 10 mins, or 30 mins. You also have the option to enable high and low heart rate alerts.
To check your heart rate manually, the Mi Band 7 has a heart rate app, and from the Mi Fitness app, you will be able to see your minimum, maximum, resting and average rate.
Mapping Routes with Mi Band 7
Although the Mi Band 7 lacks an inbuilt GPS, it can still map your routes and locations as long as you carry your phone along. Surprisingly, for a very cheap smartband, it’s very consistent in mapping routes. You just need to start an outdoor workout on the device and it will connect to your phone’s GPS.
I tested the route mapping accuracy alongside the Versa 3 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. From the results, the Mi Band 7 competed well against the more expensive wearables.
Conclusion
Rounding up, the Mi Band 7 is an awesomely built device. It will track all your daily activities while also being able to keep you updated when you receive new messages on your phone. Importantly, compared to Huawei Band 7, I found it to be a more accurate and smarter tracker. It’s no doubt a fantastic smartband. Interestingly, it now has a successor in Mi Band 8 which is even more durable and stylish.
