There is a very big update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series. This update was earlier released for the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic on the 1st of November. Now it’s rolling out for the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
The code name for this update, for the Galaxy Watch 6 series, is AWK4 and for the Galaxy Watch 5 series, it is BWL1. Meanwhile, the code name for the Galaxy Watch 4 series is HWL1.
I received this update on the 28th of this month and I installed it right away. Looking at the size of this update, it’s a massive 529MB. But then looking at what’s new, it simply says “Stability and reliability. The stability has been improved.
Well from what I have seen and heard, and going by that massive file size, there is a lot of improvements under that “stability and reliability”.
One major improvement I noticed, is that my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is a lot smoother to operate. The watch now responds faster, the fluidity is top-notch.
Secondly, battery life seems to be longer. I noticed that unlike before, my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro was still at 50% after 48hrs. Before now, without using the watch, it would be at 38% after 48hrs.
According to what I saw online, a user claimed RAM usage was lower after the update. This obviously explains the faster performance and slightly longer battery life.
Moreover, I also noticed that grouped notification now has a very stylish layered look and when you swipe up the notification is deleted allowing you to see the next message without opening the notification box. Before now, you will have to tap on the notification to see all messages from an app.
Another user pointed out that the background of the tiles is now dark. I checked, and it is true. The tiles edit menu for all the tiles is now dark.
After the update, I got a notification that you can now activate universal gestures by making double fist. This takes the total number of ways to activate Universal Gestures to five.
So those are the new improvements that come with the new update. If you notice any other improvement, please drop that in the comment box below.
If you haven’t installed this update, open the Galaxy wearable app, go to watch settings, scroll down and tap on Watch software update then select Download and Install to get the update.
