The Versa 2 design share a slight similarity with that of the Ionic, although the Ionic has a slight bigger display despite having a smaller case size that makes it more compact. However, the Versa 2 display powered by AMOLED offers a more interactive and lively display than the LCD display of the Ionic. Although, the Ionic’s LCD display is brighter and easier to read under sunlight.
The Ionic case is made of stainless steel which is heavier than the Versa 2 aluminum case. As a result, Versa 2 is lighter and more comfortable to wear all day long.
Both the Ionic and Versa 2 come with onboard storage capacity that allows you take your favorite tracks with you. However, the Versa 2 with microphone supports Amazon Alexa that enable voice assistant feature on this device. With Amazon Alexa you can check the weather, set up alarms and other reminders, as well as control smart home devices all with your voice. The Ionic lacks these features.
The Versa 2 just like other Fitbit wearables is fitness focused. Both the Ionic and the Versa 2 are well equipped to track your active life comprehensively. These two are capable of tracking your steps, distance, floors climbed, calories and more.
There’s also SmartTrack that auto tracks selected workout modes, plus the capability to track your entire sleep cycle, female health feature and guided breathing sessions that can help you manage stress and the cardio fitness level feature that helps you manage your fitness level.
However, the Ionic with inbuilt GPS which Versa 2 still lacks is a better choice for tracking outdoor activities. With the Ionic you can see your distance and pace in real-time, you can also do that with Versa 2, but you’ll have to connect to your phone GPS which can be quite inconvenient.
Each of these two has a quite impressive long battery life that lets you go days on a single charge. However, while the Ionic offer about 4 days long battery life with regular usage, the Versa 2 offers about 5 days battery life that lets you go longer on a single charge.

Which is Better?
These two are outstanding choices for comprehensive fitness tracking, and have relatively almost same price tags. However, the Versa 2 has a richer display, and is quite more attractive than the Ionic. It also has a microphone that supports Amazon Alexa which increases productivity significantly, while also having a slight longer battery life that lets you go longer on a single charge. It’s no doubt a better choice than the Ionic.
However, the Ionic is a better choice for runners and those engaging more in outdoor activities as it allows you to see your pace in real-time unlike Versa 2 that must connect to a nearby GPS device to offer such functionality.
Our Pick
The fitness-focused Fitbit Versa 2 is actually very attractive to wear with outstanding aesthetics equipped with Amazon Alexa that increases productivity significantly while having a long battery life that lets you go longer on a single charge. It’s our preferred choice.
