- Design
- Battery Life
The difference between the 40mm and 44mm versions of the galaxy watch active 2 comes in the size and battery capacity. Other than that, every other thing is the same except for the different materials; the more classic stainless steel and the sporty aluminum version.
The stainless steel version has LTE capabilities, while the aluminum version lacks LTE support.
The 44mm model has a 1.3 inches wide display compared to the 40mm’s 1.2 inches, yet the resolution is the same. You should expect the 40mm will have a richer display that’s more captivating and vivid. Thickness is the same and very slim – one of the slimmest smartwatches currently on the market.
The 44mm is slightly heavier than the 40mm version. While the stainless steel model of the 44mm weighs 42 grams (excluding straps), the 40mm weighs 37 grams (excluding straps). On the hand, while the 44mm aluminum version weighs 30 grams (excluding straps), the 40mm weighs just 27 grams (excluding straps) – quite lightweight designs.
As per color, both the 44mm and 40mm models of the Galaxy watch active 2 are available in the same colors. While, the stainless LTE version is available in black, silver, and gold, the aluminum non-LTE version is available in cloud silver, aqua silver, and pink gold.
There’s a difference in the battery capacity. The 44mm model has a higher 340mAh capacity, while the 40mm comes with 247mAh battery capacity. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the 44mm model will last longer than the 40mm. We expect these two to have almost same battery life considering that it’ll take more power to keep up that extra 0.2 inch of the 1.4 inches display of the 44mm.

Which is Better?
Between the Galaxy watch active 44mm and 40mm which should you buy – going by the sizes, the more bigger 44mm is a better fit for men and individuals with bigger wrist, while the 40mm is a nicer wear for women and persons with smaller wrist size.
Moreover, the aluminum version of the 44mm Galaxy watch active 2 will cost about $300 while the 40mm will cost about $280. You should expect the stainless steel version of the 44mm to be more expensive than the 40mm.
Our Pick
Being a man with a somewhat fat wrist, I’ll go for the bolder 44mm model.

Hi Moueza!
I don’t understand your question. If you don’t mind, can you give more details?
My eyes aren’t great. Is the display, specifically font, bigger on the 44mm? I’m a 62 year old woman and having difficulty reading texts on the 49mm
The 44mm has a slightly bigger font size than the 42mm model which makes it quite easier to read at a glance. However, the largest font of the 44mm might still be hard to read for some people.
